2. Required Product Information for Faire
To ensure successful publishing on Faire, brands must provide:
- Product Title & Description: Clear and accurate product details, including materials and care instructions.
- Variants: Sizes, colors, or other variations grouped under one product listing. Each variant must have unique inventory levels.
- Pricing: Wholesale pricing compliant with Faire’s wholesale requirements. Wholesale pricing is typically not more than 40% of the retail price you sell the product for.
- Product Minimums: Minimum order quantities can only be set per product (not at the total order level).
- Inventory: Must reflect real-time stock availability. All items must be immediate ship (no made-to-order).
- Images: High-quality images with white/neutral background, multiple angles, lifestyle/editorial shots optional.
- Shipping Rate per Product: Each product will have an associated shipping rate, determined by weight. Retailers will see shipping totals calculated based on the number of units ordered × shipping rate of each product.
3. Faire Fees & Commissions
- Order Shipping Fees: Varies depending on the region you’re shipping from. Retailers pay for shipping based on our flat rate weight based shipping fees, we suggest brands add $10 to their wholesale price in case the shipping fees charged end up being a bit higher than what the retailer paid.
- Faire order commission: 15%
- Faire First order fee: $10 flat rate fee charged the first time a retailer places an order. If the retailer orders from multiple brands from The Folklore, the brands in the order will split this evenly.
- Faire Payment Processing Fees: 3.5% + $0.30
- The Folklore order commission: 6%
Payout Calculation
Payout amount = (order subtotal) - (order shipping fee) - (faire commission) - (faire first order fee) - (faire payment processing fee) - (the folklore commission)
- Order subtotal: (cumulative wholesale cost of the items in your order, minus any brand-funded promotions)
- Shipping fee: The cost of creating a shipping label through The Folklore’s portal
- Faire commission: Order subtotal x commission rate for given order type
- Faire first order fee: Up to $10 if first time receiving order from retailer
- Faire payment processing fee: Item subtotal x payment processing fee
- The Folklore commission: Order subtotal x commission rate for given order type
4. Order Minimums & Wholesale Structure
- Brands can only set order minimums at the product level.
- This means retailers may place small wholesale orders (e.g., just one product meeting its MOQ).
- Brands should prepare for smaller order volumes, especially when first onboarding.
5. Fulfillment & Shipping
- Order acceptance: You have 4 business days to email us to decline the fulfillment of an order, if a label isn’t created by then or we do not hear from you, we will assume you will not be fulfilling the order and will cancel on your behalf.
- Shipping Restrictions: Brands may ship from Africa, LATAM, or the U.S., but only to U.S. retailers.
- Shipping Labels: Must be generated through The Folklore system.
- Who Pays for Shipping: The Folklore attaches a weight-based shipping rate to each product so that shipping charges scale by product and quantity ordered. Retailers pay for shipping based on our flat rate weight based shipping fees, we suggest brands add $10 to their wholesale price in case the shipping fees charged end up being a bit higher than what the retailer paid. Then the brand would be required for covering any additional fees.
- Duties: Retailers will be responsible for paying duties when it arrives. All shipments are sent Delivery Duty unpaid so pricing should not include duties.
- Fulfillment Standard: Orders must be shipped within 3 business days. Eco-conscious packaging is encouraged.
