Faire Sales Channel Overview

The Faire Sales Channel allows brands on The Folklore to seamlessly publish and sell products on Faire using our multi-marketplace selling technology. This feature mirrors the same streamlined process used for other marketplace integrations within The Folklore platform.

1. Process Overview

Brand Uploads Products to The Folklore

  • Create and upload product listings within The Folklore platform. Learn how here

  • Complete all required Faire listing details.

  •  Connect to the Faire Marketplace channel and activate your products for publishing consideration. Learn how here. 

Data Sync to The Folklore’s Shopify

  • Products flagged for Faire automatically sync to The Folklore’s Shopify catalog.

  • Product data and images are cleaned and validated to meet Faire’s requirements.

Faire Integration Management

  • The Folklore team reviews and manually publishes eligible products through the Faire integration in Shopify.

Order Flow

  • Retailers place wholesale orders via Faire.

  • Orders route into The Folklore’s Shopify system.

  • Brands receive order notifications through The Folklore portal.

  • Brands ship directly to U.S.-based retailers using shipping labels generated via The Folklore.

Payouts

  • Faire issues payouts to The Folklore according to its payout schedule.

  • The Folklore deducts its 6% transaction fee and transfers the remaining balance to the brand.

2. Required Product Information for Faire

To ensure successful publishing on Faire, brands must include:

  • Product Title & Description: Clear, detailed, and accurate, including materials and care instructions.

  • Variants: Sizes, colors, or other variations grouped under one product listing; each variant must have its own inventory.

  • Pricing: Wholesale pricing compliant with Faire’s policies.

  • Product Minimums: Minimum order quantities can only be set per product (not per order).

  • Inventory: Must show real-time stock; all items must be immediate ship (no made-to-order).

  • Images: High-quality, white or neutral backgrounds with optional lifestyle/editorial shots.

  • Shipping Rate per Product: Each product must have an associated weight-based shipping rate so retailers can see accurate shipping totals.

3. Faire Fees & Commissions

Shipping Fees:
Varies depending on the region you’re shipping from. Retailers pay shipping based on weight-based flat rates. We recommend brands add $10 to their wholesale prices to offset potential variations in shipping costs.

Returns:
Faire covers the cost and receives all returns to their warehouse to resell on their own and refunds the retailers directly, it does not impact the payout of a brand as they are not charged for returned orders.

Payout Calculation:

Payout = (Order Subtotal) + (Shipping Reimbursement)
         - (Faire Commission)
         - (The Folklore Commission)
         - (Payment Processing Fee)

Where:

  • Order Subtotal = Total wholesale cost of all items (minus any brand-funded promotions)

  • Shipping Reimbursement = Applies when the brand fulfills its own orders

  • Commissions = Order subtotal x Faire + The Folklore percentage rates

  • Processing Fee = Item subtotal x Standard payment processing fee

 

4. Order Minimums & Wholesale Structure

  • Minimums can only be defined at the product level.

  • Retailers may place small wholesale orders (e.g., a single product meeting its MOQ).

  • Brands should prepare for smaller average order volumes during onboarding.

5. Fulfillment & Shipping

  • Shipping Restrictions: Brands can ship from Africa, LATAM, or the U.S., but only to U.S. retailers.

  • Shipping Labels: Must be generated through The Folklore system.

  • Who Pays: The Folklore attaches a weight-based shipping rate to each product so that shipping charges scale by product and quantity ordered.

  • Fulfillment Standard: All orders must be shipped within 2 business days.

  • Packaging: Eco-friendly, secure, and professional packaging is encouraged.
