The Shopify Collective Sales Channel allows brands on The Folklore to publish and sell products on Shopify Collective through our multi-marketplace selling technology. It mirrors the same streamlined experience brands have when publishing to other marketplaces through The Folklore.

1. Brand Uploads Products to The Folklore
Create and upload product listings within The Folklore platform. Learn how here
Complete all required Shopify Collective listing details.
Connect to the Shopify Collective channel and activate your products for publishing consideration. Learn how here.
2. Data Sync to The Folklore’s Shopify
Products flagged for Shopify Collective are synced to The Folklore’s Shopify catalog.
All products are automatically assigned to The Folklore’s Shopify Collective Standard Price List.
3. Shopify Collective Integration Management
The Folklore team reviews and manually publishes selected products through the Shopify Collective supplier integration in Shopify.
4. Order Flow
Retailers vetted and approved by The Folklore import products into their own Shopify stores via Shopify Collective.
End customers place orders on the retailer’s store.
Orders flow into The Folklore’s Shopify and then to the brand through The Folklore Portal.
Brands ship directly to end customers.
5. Payouts
Shopify Collective processes payments and deducts any retailer commission or related fees before sending the balance to The Folklore.
The Folklore deducts a 6 % transaction fee and transfers the remaining funds to the brand.
2. Required Product Information for Shopify Collective
To ensure successful publishing on Shopify Collective, brands must provide:
Product Title & Description: Clear, accurate details including materials and care instructions.
Variants: Sizes, colors, or other variations grouped under a single listing; each must have unique inventory.
Pricing: Must comply with The Folklore’s standardized Collective Price List (applies to all brands).
Inventory: Must reflect real-time stock availability.
Images: High-quality with white or neutral background; multiple angles encouraged.
Shipping Details: Accurate weights and dimensions for each SKU to calculate customer shipping charges.
3. Retailer Connections & Product Discovery
Inviting Retailers to Connect
Brands can invite retailers to connect with The Folklore through Shopify Collective so they can list the brand’s products.
When a retailer accepts, The Folklore approves the connection, giving access to The Folklore catalog.
Retailer Access to Products
Once connected, retailers can browse The Folklore’s Collective Catalog and search for your products.
Retailers may import your products directly into their Shopify stores.
You will be notified whenever a retailer lists your products, ensuring visibility into where your brand is sold.
Product Removal Requests
If a retailer connected through The Folklore lists your products and you prefer they not appear in their store, you may request removal.
The Folklore will process the request and ensure your products are no longer visible on that retailer’s site.
Ongoing Product Sync
Updates to product details, pricing, or inventory in The Folklore Portal automatically sync to connected retailers’ stores.
This ensures retailers always display accurate product data with no extra work required from you.
4. Shopify Collective Fees & Commissions

5. Fulfillment & Shipping
Shipping Restrictions: Brands may ship from Africa, LATAM, or the U.S. to destinations supported by Shopify Collective.
Shipping Labels: Must be generated through The Folklore System.
Who Pays for Shipping: End customers pay at checkout through the retailer’s store.
Fulfillment Standard: Orders should ship within 2 business days (or within the stated timeframe for made-to-order items). Eco-friendly packaging is encouraged.
6. Brand Considerations
Invitation Etiquette: Only invite retailers you genuinely wish to collaborate with, and respond promptly to invitations you receive.
Product Listings: Include complete details and high-quality images. Product descriptions should be at least 150 characters long.
Managing Fulfillment: Maintain accurate inventory and transit times to avoid delays. Always provide genuine tracking numbers.
Retailer Respect: When shipping directly to retailers’ customers, do not include marketing materials, discount codes, or invoices.
Return Rules: Follow the same return policies The Folklore Shop has agreed upon with connected retailers. These are the standard return policies The Folklore Shop has.
Customer Experience: Respond to customer support inquiries within 48 hours. The Folklore Team will forward these inquiries via email. Work closely with retailers to resolve issues efficiently.
