Connecting Shopify to The Folklore

Follow these steps to sync your Shopify store with The Folklore and automatically import your product catalog.

Features 

  1. Product Sync – Name, description, prices, images, variants, etc. Any updates made in your Shopify store will reflect in your Folklore catalog.
  2. Inventory Tracking – Real-time stock count updates.
  3. Price Sync - Real-time price updates from your Shopify store to The Folklore
  4. Order Sync – Orders from The Folklore are synced to your Shopify store for visibility. 

     

Step 1:Connect to Shopify

  • On the Integrations page, find Shopify and click the Connect button.
  • Please do not close this tab.

Step 2: Create a custom app in Shopify

  1. Open a new tab, and log in to your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to Apps → click App settings.

  1. Click Develop apps (top right).

  1. Click Build apps in Dev Dashboard

  1. Click Create app

  1. Name the new app “The Folklore” and click Create app.

  1. The follow these steps to configure the app
    a. Under App URL enter “https://member.thefolklore.com/account/integrations”.
    b. Uncheck the Embed app in Shopify admin checkbox.
    c. Scroll down, and check the Use legacy install flow checkbox.
    d. Then enter “https://member.thefolklore.com/account/integrations” in the Redirect URLs textbox.

  1. Scroll back to the top of the page and click Release. When the confirmation popup appears, click Release again.

Step 3: Copy your credentials from Shopify to The Folklore

  1. Select Settings tab
  2. Click the clipboard icon next to the Client ID (labeled 1 in the first image) to copy it. Then return to the open The Folklore integration tab and paste the copied value into the Shopify Client ID field (labeled 1 in the second image).
  3. Repeat the same step for the Secret. Click the clipboard icon next to the Secret (labeled 2 in the first image) to copy it. Then return to the open The Folklore integration tab and paste the copied value into the Shopify Client Secret field (labeled 2 in the second image).

  1. Enter your store’s myshopify.com URL in the Shopify Domain textbox. It should follow this format: xxxxx.myshopify.com.
  2. Click Connect to finish the installation. After that, you’ll be redirected to Shopify to complete the process.

Step 4: Complete the Shopify installation

  • On the Shopify app install screen, click Install to add The Folklore app. You’ll then be redirected to The Folklore dashboard. 

You’re all set!

Your Shopify products will now begin syncing automatically with The Folklore. Any product updates you make in Shopify will reflect in your Folklore catalog.

Orders generated through The Folklore will appear on your Shopify orders page for reference, but all fulfillment must be completed within The Folklore portal.
