Shipping fees are an important aspect of fulfilling orders and managing costs. This article provides an outline of the shipping fees associated with consumer and wholesale orders on The Folklore platform.
Consumer Orders
For consumer orders, shipping fees are determined based on the region, weight, and destination of the shipment. Below is the standard shipping rate structure:
- United States: $10 per brand, free for orders over $250.
- United Kingdom: $15 per brand, free for orders over $250.
- Canada: $10 per brand, free for orders over $250.
- European Union: $15 per brand, free for orders over $250.
- Asia: $20 per brand, free for orders over $500.
- Rest of the World: $25 per brand, free for orders over $500.
- Africa: $35 per brand, free for orders over $500.
- Australia: A$25 per brand, free for orders over $500.
Brand Contribution:
Brands are expected to contribute toward shipping costs. The contribution is capped at $30, regardless of the total shipping fee.
Free Shipping Thresholds:
Customers can qualify for free shipping when their order exceeds the specified regional thresholds (e.g., $250 for the United States, United Kingdom, and Canada).
Wholesale Orders
For wholesale orders, shipping fees operate differently:
- Retailer Coverage: Shipping is free for all retailers that place orders on the platform.
- Brand Responsibility: Brands are responsible for paying shipping costs. To manage these costs, brands are advised to incorporate anticipated shipping expenses into their wholesale pricing.
Managing Shipping Fees
-
Shipping Labels:
- Consumer orders processed via The Folklore’s platform use integrated shipping tools like EasyPost. Shipping label costs are deducted from the brand’s order payout.
- Brands generating shipping documents off the platform are responsible for upfront payment to their carrier of choice.
-
International Orders:
- Duties or VAT associated with international shipping are not included in the shipping fees. These costs are the responsibility of the retailer for wholesale orders or the customer for consumer orders.
-
Overage Costs:
- In cases where the shipping cost exceeds the combined customer and brand contribution, The Folklore will cover the overage fees. This is most common for shipments to and from Africa, where localized courier rates are not yet secured.
Key Considerations
- Shipping Discounts: Brands can access discounted shipping rates through The Folklore. Learn more in the Using Our Discounted Shipping Rates article.
- Customs and Duties: Fees related to customs clearance, such as duties and VAT, are separate from shipping fees and must be accounted for by the responsible party.
- Accurate Documentation: Ensure all shipping documents and invoices are accurate to avoid unexpected costs or delays.
By understanding and properly managing shipping fees, brands can optimize their operations and maintain a smooth fulfillment process on The Folklore platform.
