There are four steps for service providers to get hired for a project by a client:
- Receive quote request: Prospective brands can send custom quote requests to service providers using the “request a quote” field on the service provider’s profile. Brands can include attachments and must fill in the following details about the project for the service provider to review:
- Manufacturers: Description of services being requested, desired services, number of SKUs, number of units per SKU
- Freelancers: Description of services being requested, budget (hourly, weekly, monthly, flat rate), service duration, start date
- Negotiate terms: Discuss project details directly with the service provider through the messaging portal to determine the final scope and fee for the project.
- Create Project Scope: Once the two parties have confirmed details and both agree to move forward with the Project, the service provider will visit the Projects page to create a Project Scope. The Project Scope will contain the details agreed to by the client for them to review and approve. Once a Project Scope is sent, the client will receive an alert via email and the client will need to review and approve it.
- Canceling Project: If the service provider or the client decide not to move forward with starting a new Project and the Project has not yet been approved by the client, the service provider can cancel it on the Project Scope page.
- Declining Project: If the information on the Project Scope page is incorrect or the client decides not to move forward with starting the new Project, the brand can deny the Project on the Project Scope page.
- Modifying Project: There is no way to modify a Project Proposal. If modifications are needed in order for a client to accept the proposal, the client must message the service provider requesting the changes and the service provider must then cancel the previously proposed Project (as long as it has not already been accepted by the client) and create an updated proposal for the client to review.
- Request payment: If a service provider requires a deposit, the deposit amount must be entered in the pop up section that appears after they click ”send to client”. Once a deposit payment is submitted by the client, the project is officially active. If a service provider does not require a deposit, they will select the “no deposit” option on the pop up screen, and once a brand approves the Project, the Project is considered active.
Who can offer and purchase services on the platform?
Only registered users can offer and buy services on Source. Registration is free for service providers and is included in The Folklore subscription package for brands.
Users cannot allow others access to use their account for any purposes, including offering or purchasing services. The only person permitted to login to an account is the user that registered the account and whose name and information appears on the account.
All users must be over the age of 18 to create an account and offer or purchase services. All users must be authorized to create an account on behalf of the company or organization that they are claiming to represent.
How are services purchased?
Services or a “Project” is purchased when both parties accept the Project Scope by clicking “accept” on the Project Scope or Projects page and any initial deposits (if any) are successfully processed by the brand on The Folklore platform. An “active” badge will appear on any Project Scope to indicate the services have been purchased and the project is active.
When is a Project designated as “active”?
Once a brand selects the accept button on the Project Scope page and pays the deposit, the Project is considered active. If no deposit is required, the Project is considered active as soon as the brand selects the “accept” button. Service providers are required to begin working on and complete the project as soon as the project is marked as active and/or inline with the Project start date outlined in the Project Scope.
When is a Project designated as “complete”?
A Project is marked as complete after the service provider delivers the final work, sends the balance request, and the final balance payment is sent by the brand. In the event that the full payment was made up front and no balance is due, the project is marked as completed once the service provider clicks “mark as complete” on the Project Scope page after delivering the services to the brand and the brand confirming receipt of the services.
If a brand does not respond within 48 hours to the service provider's delivery of services communication, a service provider can mark the Project as complete.
Who owns the work product?
When commissioning a Project, brands are granted all rights for the delivered work, unless otherwise specified by the service provider in the Project Scope. The Folklore retains the right to use all published delivered works and designs for The Folklore marketing and promotion purposes.
Can users create multiple accounts?
An individual or company can only have one service provider account and one brand account. Any violation of this policy can lead to removal from the platform.
How is the information users provide validated?
If it is brought to our attention that any information provided by a service provider or brand is false, they will be automatically removed from the platform. That includes any misrepresentations of previous works, experience, identity, or any other information provided on their profile, during registration, or in communication with other users or The Folklore team. Users are encouraged to report any suspicious fraudulent activity.
The Folklore cannot be held liable for any false information provided by users of the platform.
