The Folklore provides a transparent and flexible fee structure for wholesale transactions, ensuring fair costs based on subscription plans and retailer relationships. Here’s a complete breakdown of wholesale commission fees, payment schedules, and scenarios where commissions are or are not applied.
Commission Rates by Subscription Plan
- Essentials Plan: 20% commission on wholesale orders.
- Plus Plan: 10% commission on wholesale orders.
- Premium Plan: 5% commission on wholesale orders.
If your retailer is an existing partner or one you referred to the platform, you won’t pay commission on their orders.
Zero-Commission Orders
The Folklore charges 0% commission for:
- Orders processed by your existing retail partners.
- Orders from retailers you referred to join the platform using your unique referral link.
Payment Timeline for Commission Fees
On-Platform Orders
- When commission is charged: Full commission is collected when the retailer makes the initial payment on the platform, whether it’s a deposit or a full payment.
- How commission is charged: Commission is automatically deducted from your payout, along with any payment processing fees.
Off-Platform Orders (Premium Retail Partners)
- When commission is charged: Full commission is due 60 days after you receive an invoice.
- How commission is charged: You’ll receive an email with an invoice and a link to pay via Stripe.
Late Fees for Off-Platform Orders
- If your invoice remains unpaid 60 days after issuance, a 2% monthly interest fee is applied to the outstanding balance.
- To avoid additional charges, pay both the original amount and any accumulated interest promptly.
Retailer Classifications for Commission
- New Retail Stockist: A retailer that has never placed an order with you and was introduced through The Folklore. All initial and subsequent orders are subject to commission.
- Existing Retail Stockist: A retailer that has placed one or more orders with you in the past 18 months or is currently selling your products. These orders are commission-free.
- Referred Retail Stockist: A retailer you invited through a referral link. These orders are also commission-free.
Keeping Your Retailer Information Updated
To ensure accurate commission charges, keep the "Current Retail Stockists" section in your settings up to date. If you notice any incorrect charges for orders from Existing or Referred Retail Stockists, contact brands@thefolklore.com for review and reimbursement.
How Long You’re Charged Commission
- You’ll pay commission on all orders from New Retail Stockists who discover you through The Folklore’s platform or services for the duration of your subscription.
- If your membership is canceled:
- On-platform orders: Commission charges end once you or the retailer leave the platform.
- Off-platform orders: Commission is charged for up to 12 months after cancellation for Premium Retail Partners introduced through The Folklore.
Accepted Payment Methods
For on-platform orders, payments are securely processed via Stripe. Accepted payment methods include:
- Credit/Debit Cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, China UnionPay, Japan Credit Bureau (JCB), and eftpos Australia.
For off-platform orders, payment terms are determined between you and the Premium Retail Partner.
